To help brighten the spring months for area children, the Ross Medical Education Center campus in Bowling Green decided to adopt the pediatric ward of the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Faculty, staff, and students worked together to fill 24 easter baskets that they got to deliver to sick children that were away from their families and homes and staying in the hospital. Many from the campus were so excited to help out in this fun and meaningful event. They couldn’t wait to surprise the children with the colorful treats and gifts!
They filled all 24 very large baskets and even wrapped each one in colorful cellophane to make them a little more festive. Based on the generous outpouring of donations, the venture was declared an overwhelming success. More than just donations of items, there was a notable donation from all the students of their time as well. In fact, every single one of the students contributed to this worthy cause! They didn’t just stop at providing the contents for the baskets; they all helped out in many ways. Some were able to help by donating items, others by assembling the baskets, and still others spent time creating a sign that would be placed at the hospital.
“At the Bowling Green campus,” said Campus Director Rebecca Moran, “we pride ourselves on doing random acts of kindness for the community.” They have shown this spirit in all of the events that they host and participate in to benefit their community. They most certainly made the day of many hospitalized children this easter holiday. Students from the Pharmacy Technician, Medical Assistant, and Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration programs were so excited to deliver the baskets to the hospital. It is not a day that those children, their families, or the students and staff at the Ross campus will soon forget.
