A graduate that sticks out in the mind of the staff of the Taylor campus of Ross Medical Education Center is Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration student Amber Ducharme. A student with exemplary work ethic in the classroom, she had almost perfect attendance and consistently scored high on all of her class work. She was determined always to learn everything that she could so that she could be the most successful in her chosen field. She inspired everyone around her through her desire to succeed.
It all started one night while Amber was on Facebook and received a friend request from an old friend. Approximately three years earlier they had spent time together during recruit training for the United States Marines. Amber shared that, as she looked through her friend’s profile, she saw that she was recently married, had an amazing job, and couldn’t look happier. She decided that she needed to make a change in her life, so she decided to return to school to get an education.
Shortly after, Amber arrived at Ross to inquire about the Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration program, registered for classes, and was on her way to achieve her dream. Once she started school she was faced with the difficulty of juggling all the various areas of her life. However, she refused to allow herself to get discouraged. She attended class each day and exceeded in her academics.
After successfully finishing her classroom experience, Amber completed her externship at Professional Outreach Counseling Services in Taylor, Michigan. Once again, she was did extremely well. Her clinic manager couldn’t say enough about how well she was doing at the site. At the end of her externship, her manager gave her the highest marks that it is able to receive in every area of evaluation.
Amber has shared that Ross became like a family to her, encouraging her to be successful. At the end of her time at Ross, she completed her externship and was offered a job. Her instructors and the rest of the Taylor staff are so proud of her and her accomplishments.
