Ross Medical Education Center Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration Module 4

Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration: Module 4

Ross Medical Education Center Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration Module 4In Module Four of Ross Medical Education Center’s Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration program, basic math is reviewed while having fun with activities and games. Even if math was never a favorite topic, you will see how fun it can be and how it is used in the healthcare field. It is used in various ways to learn about financial literacy and financial record keeping in the business of the medical facility. Some of the important topics covered include budgets, payroll, billing procedures, and collections.

The module also includes medical terminology and the anatomy and physiology of reproduction, growth, development, and genetics. A very interesting genetics activity is conducted where you will learn the type of characteristics you might have if you were a dragon! Common medications used for reproductive and growth-related conditions will be included. Medical terminology and anatomy and physiology are the basis of coding. These topics correlate with procedure and diagnosis coding related to the reproductive system and all aspects of birth and pregnancy. The diagnosis and procedure codes are used to complete the claim form to bill many types of insurance companies.

The basics of insurance and insurance terminology as well as TRICARE, a type of insurance for armed services personnel and their families, are the focus of this module. The classroom experience is interactive with many varied presentations, discussions, activities and numerous opportunities to use technology. Electronic health records and patient management systems are used and ultimately generate insurance claim forms. There are several student resources available to enhance the learning experience including basic keyboarding skills using Word, Typing Quick and Easy, use of Excel, a virtual library, StudyWare, electronic claim forms, and many online resources. Professionalism and soft skills are covered to prepare students for the healthcare field and interaction with a diverse population of patients. This module is a place to gain knowledge while having hands-on fun.
