Morgantown Enjoys an Eventful Summer!

Ross-Medical-Education-Center-Morgantown-EMS-VisitAt Ross Medical Education Center, summers are full of activities and community events. The Ross Medical Education Center campus in Morgantown is no exception. They also have already been very busy this summer. They started the warm weather off with a cookout that they opened up to the community as an open house. In the weeks leading up to the event, they advertised to the area on the radio. In addition to enjoying delicious food, visitors were invited to chat with staff, faculty, and students and take tours of the campus. The radio station even showed up at the campus on the day of the event to cover it and enjoy the fun day at the campus!

Ross Medical Education Center Morgantown EMS VisitShortly after their cookout the campus held a food drive to benefit the food pantry at local Scott’s Run Settlement House. The campus has loved working with this very impactful organization and were delighted to support them once again. This summer’s drive was very successful. The staff, faculty, and students from the campus were able to collect and donate over 200 items to help care for area residents that have fallen into hard times and seek out Scott’s Run for help.

Following the food drive, the campus hosted a blood drive in early July. The staff, students, and faculty help host and run blood drive twice a year, and they always look forward to them as they are a community focused on healthcare. During this drive, 15 pints of blood were collected to be donated to community hospitals.

Ross Medical Education Center Morgantown EMS VisitThen the West Virginia United Health System EMS team came by the campus for a visit! They brought their emergency vehicles and everyone had a blast getting a full tour of the vehicles. They also took the time to share about how everything works and how their team works together to respond to emergencies. This coupled with a visit from Adam Burda from West Virginia University’s Human Nutrition and Foods Department really got the students excited and ready to head out into the field! The Morgantown campus has loved their summer so far and look forward to wrapping it up with a bang before heading into the fall!
