Niles Raises Awareness and Funds to End Breast Cancer

Ross Medical Education Center Niles Making StridesIn honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Ross Medical Education Center campus in Niles, OH is working hard to make a difference. On their campus, staff and students participated in a “pink day” competition between the programs. Everyone dressed in pink and the “pinkest” class won! The Pharmacy Technician class went all out for the competition. Each and every student participated and they decided to decorate their room and their hallway as well! The students also brought in pink cupcakes and pink ribbon bagels to celebrate their victory.

Their team joined over 600 other registered walkers to complete the three mile course through Canfield, OH. The campus raised awareness and over $400 that they were able to donate to the American Cancer Society. Their area walk raised $27,350 for the fight against breast cancer.

Ross Medical Education Center Niles Making StridesKyle Elder, Community Events Specialist for the American Cancer Society, was very thankful for the campus’ contribution saying, “When you and your team raise funds to end breast cancer, you support breast cancer research to better understand, prevent, find, and treat the disease, provide free comprehensive programs and support to patients, survivors, and caregivers, and help people take steps to reduce their risk of breast cancer or find it early, when it is most treatable. Everything we do – research, information, our life-changing services and more – depends on the generosity of friends like you.” According to their website, since it’s conception in 1993, the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk has taken place in more than 270 communities with 8 million walkers who have raised over $460 million.
