Ross Medical Education Center Port Huron Focus CTV

Port Huron Campus Featured on Local Television Program

Last week, the Ross Medical Education Center campus in Port Huron got the opportunity to have their campus featured on a local television station, CTV. Mia Vargo, Port Huron Campus Director, and Stacey Clark, Assistant Campus Director of Education, participated in an interview with host Paul Dingeman during the station’s Focus program. This is Mia’s second time on the show, while Stacey was making her Focus debut.

Paul was blown away by the way that Ross has grown and continues to grow. Now in 31 communities throughout Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, and West Virginia, every single campus offers the Medical Assistant and Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration programs. Many campuses also offer Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, and Veterinary Assistant programs. He was also interested in the Ross culture and that it provides such an excellent educational environment to students of all ages, from recent high school graduates, to those with children or even grandchildren.

Both Mia and Stacey were very excited to share about what the Port Huron campus is doing around the community. Stacey was able to share about recent community events that the campus has participated in from donating school supplies to an area elementary school to donating winter clothing items to Kids in Distress. Paul was impressed by how much the students are involved in the community events as well.

“We make sure that we involve the students in everything that we do because we really want them to start giving back to the community too. We foster that in them as soon as they start going to school with us.” -Stacey Clark, Assistant Campus Director of Education

Not only did they get a chance to talk about what they have been doing recently, they were able to give some information regarding upcoming events as well. On Saturday, March 21st, they are heading to the McLaren Port Huron‘s Children’s Fun and Fitness Festival where Ross instructors will be working with children at a booth set up at the event. Also in March, the campus is hosting a food drive that will benefit the Blue Water Food Depot. The campus’ goal is 1500 items and they invite the entire community to come and drop off donations at their front desk.

“It’s rare that you work for a company that not only supports it, but strongly encourages community involvement; I think it’s one of the most special things about Ross. We’re teaching professional healthcare students what it’s like to be a good neighbor and to give back.” -Mia Vargo, Campus Director

It was a wonderful experience for all, and they enjoyed talking about all the great things that the Port Huron campus is doing in the community. It’s always an honor to be featured in community programs like CTV.

If you are interested in contributing to the food drive, donations can be dropped of at 2887 Krafft Road, Suite 700, Port Huron, Michigan 48060. Call the campus at (810) 982-0454 for directions or to get more information.
