Ross Medical in Ann Arbor Supports Local Making Strides Event

Ross Medical Education Center Ann Arbor Making Strides Against Breast CancerThe students and staff at Ross Medical Education Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan participated in the fundraising campaign for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The campus raised over $300 and was ranked 55 out of 153 teams in the region. They were excited to be able to contribute to the total raised amount of $160,352. These funds will help in the pursuit of finding a cure for breast cancer. In addition to raising money, the campus also participated in the annual walk at Washtenaw Community College. Come rain or shine the walk marches on, and with the weather not cooperating with heavy rain, the students and staff still participated in support of the endeavor.

The campus staff, students, and faculty knows that every dollar raised makes a difference. Ann Arbor’s Career Development Representative Byron Ruffin said. “whether we’ve faced it ourselves, or someone we love has, almost everyone has been affected by breast cancer in some way. But at the same time, we can all do something about it.” According to their website, “Nearly 250,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. That could be your mother, sister, daughter, your wife, or even you. We hold Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events so anyone touched by breast cancer won’t have to face their diagnosis alone. We do it to raise awareness and money to fund research, support services, and early detection. We hold Making Strides events to save lives.”

Everyone at Ross in Ann Arbor knows how important it is to both donate to research efforts and raise awareness through events like the Making Strides walks. That’s why they were proud of their work this October. As their website states, “by donating to a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event you’re helping the American Cancer Society make a difference in so many ways, from funding innovative breast cancer research to simply providing a hand to hold.”
