Ross Medical in Canton Joins Christmas Party for Homeless Children

Ross Medical Education Center Canton Helps Homeless Children at ChristmasThis past holiday season, the Canton, Michigan campus of Ross Medical Education Center joined in the 2017 Celebration for Homeless Children Event hosted by the QSA Foundation Corporation. This annual event is to benefit homeless and disadvantaged children living in shelters in the Metro Detroit Area. The local homeless shelters host more than 200 children currently and are expecting more. At this event, the organization supplies the homeless children with food, gifts, games, face painting, fun, entertainment, and a night to remember. To make that happen, they asked for community support to make the 2017 Christmas Party for Homeless Children a memorable event for the Detroit area children residing in homeless centers.

This experience was very humbling to see what giving to others large or small can do. Great job Ross Canton Evening Dental Assisting class. You put a smile on a lot of faces!”

It all began when Dental Assistant Instructor Betty Banks was looking for an event that her Ross students could do as part of the community. She found this opportunity on volunteermatch.com. It was something very powerful. The organization is QSA Foundation Corporation, they also help homeless Veterans. In November she informed her class that they would be collecting all kinds of items from their friends, family, students, and staff. As an Instructor for the Ross Medical Education Center Brighton, Michigan campus during this time as well as the Canton campus, it was a joint effort between the two. Over 1000 items were collected and given to the children and veterans. This was the 16th annual celebration, and they were able to give items to over 200 children. Some of the Ross students and their friends and family were thrilled to be able to help out with that process as well. The event had food and lots of gift giving along with an appearance by Santa himself! Each child was given a bag so they could take whatever they needed. The Ross campus felt very blessed to be able to give to these children.
