During the month of March, the Ross Medical Education Center Davison, Michigan campus took part in the Ross Company-Wide Food Drive. Each campus was encouraged to support a local organization of their choice by collecting non-perishable food items. This is a wonderful event that happens every year for students and staff across each of campuses to take part in. It was quite easy for Davison to decide who they were going to support, as back in January, the front office staff had donated their time on a Saturday to cook and serve a meal at the North End Soup Kitchen in Flint.
Serving at the North End Soup Kitchen was a favorite of the community service projects the campus had done and everyone was excited to help out once again. In fact, the campus team has been volunteering multiple times each month at North End Soup Kitchen as a part of a campus commitment to find ways to give back in the community that have a lasting impact for both the volunteers and the recipients of the meals.
By the end of their drive, the Ross Davison campus was able to fill four large boxes of food for the Soup Kitchen, and on a Saturday in early April it was delivered. There is always a need for these types of donations at the North End Soup Kitchen, and they were very grateful to receive support once again from Ross Davison. Everyone at the campus is hoping to go back and serve meals again soon too!
“Taking part in the food drive this year really meant a lot to me personally,” shared Davison Office Assistant, Rebecca Sprankle. “Back in January I had been part of the Ross team that spent a Saturday afternoon cooking and serving meals at the North End Soup Kitchen, which really had an impact on me. When it came time for the food drive at our campus this past March and we decided to donate and support North End Soup Kitchen again, I just knew I wanted to help as much as I could. You can’t give back to the community in such a way and not be encouraged to help even more! I look forward to helping the Soup Kitchen again in the near future by serving meals and donating more food when they are in need.”
