Ross Medical Honored By Be the Match at Michigan Blood

Ross Medical Education Center Davison Kentwood Michigan Blood Be The Match Golf Outing Fundraiser AwardEach and every Ross Medical Education Center campus works hard to be contribute to their community and to build partnerships with local organizations that are striving to do the same. Many campuses across the state of Michigan have consistently partnered with Michigan Blood through blood drives at the campus as well as through their Be the Match program. This year, staff from the Ross Medical campus in Davison and the Ross Medical campus in Kentwood, Michigan were present as Ross was honored at the 12th Annual Fore for Life Charity Golf Outing benefiting the Be The Match program, hosted by Michigan Blood. Ross received an award in recognition of their dedication to community service.

Throughout the year, many campuses have hosted Be the Match drives. In fact, since December 2012, Ross campuses have added over 800 potential matches to the registry. Of those that have decided to join the registry, 18 of them have been called as potential matches for a patient, and three of those members of the Ross community have actually been selected as the donor and have donated to a patient in need. “Every Ross campus is generally involved in providing some form of community service; however, to see the actual impact of our contribution displayed on a large screen for all to appreciate was shocking and wonderful,” shared Michelle Lambaria-Robson, Assistant Campus Director of Education from the Davison campus, an attendee at the event. “Hosting Be The Match drives on our campus seemed like such a small task, but the magnitude of our presence was certainly felt by Michigan Blood and everyone they help.”

The entire Ross Medical Education Center community was honored at the fun and inspirational event. Through the Fore for Life Charity Golf Outing event, over $11,000 was collected so that Be the Match and Michigan Blood can continue to recruit donors and save lives! Following the outing was a dinner during which all those present were able to see exactly how much their support meant to those waiting for donations. In fact, a 10 year old boy even met his donor for the first time during the dinner. It was a very meaningful and emotional evening. Michelle said of the day, “the golf outing was extremely enlightening, it was wonderful to see exactly how much we impact our community.” The Davison campus as well as all the others across the state look forward to continuing to partner with Michigan Blood and Be the Match.
