Ross Medical in Ann Arbor Makes Strides Against Breast Cancer

Ross Medical Education Center Ann Arbor Breast Cancer Awareness WalkThe Ross Medical Education Center Ann Arbor, Michigan campus was very busy this year during Breast Cancer Awareness month. Ross Ann Arbor instructors, students, and staff partnered with Career Development Representative Byron Ruffin at the Taylor campus to participate in Ann Arbor’s Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Saturday, October 27th. The school team joined over 150 other teams to raise over $100,000 in the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor Community.

Ross Medical Education Center Ann Arbor Breast Cancer Awareness WalkMaking Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks make up the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the country. These events help to bring community members together with a shared goal to help find a cure for breast cancer. “Passionate walk participants raise critical funds that enable the American Cancer Society to fund innovative research; provide free, information and support to anyone touched by breast cancer; and help people reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it’s most treatable,” according to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer website.

Dylan Ford, a student in the Medical Assistant program, said he walked because, “you never know how this can impact your family.” Dylan’s classmate, Medical Assistant student Denisesia Thompson walked “to support those who have been impacted by the disease.”

The money raised through Making Strides walks helps the American Cancer Society in the fight against breast cancer by funding innovative breast cancer research, providing free, comprehensive information and support for those touched by breast cancer, and by helping people reduce their breast cancer risk or discover it early when it’s most treatable. On the website, you can search for a Making Strides participant to support their fundraising effort or simply make a general donation to help create a world free from the pain and suffering of breast cancer. Campus Director Dr. Ross said, “I was so proud to see all the students, staff, and faculty members who came out to support such a worthwhile cause.”
