Ross Medical in Lansing Supports Women’s Center of Greater Lansing

ross medical education center lansing womens center clothing driveThe Ross Medical Education Center campus in Lansing, Michigan is home to an extraordinarily compassionate staff of educational professionals who are always looking for ways to help serve their local community. So, when Shari Brooks in the Career Development department suggested a professional clothing drive for the Women’s Center of Greater Lansing, her idea was quickly welcomed by the rest of the campus. The staff immediately took action, implementing a plan to notify the entire team of the importance of this effort. Donations of business attire, including dresses, sweaters, blazers, coats, and even pantyhose filled two large boxes. The donations were then personally delivered by Shari Brooks to the Women’s Center.

The Women’s Center of Greater Lansing is a non-profit organization that has provided assistance to over 5,000 women since opening its doors in 2005. Through workshops and support groups, the center encourages emotional and physical well-being and provides career counseling. One of the most remarkable aspects of the support that they offer is that it is available to all women regardless of income level. It is a place where women of all ages and backgrounds can receive support and aid at little or no cost as they strive to improve their lives and those of their families.

We know that sometimes searching for a job can be a daunting task, but many women have successfully found employment after receiving assistance from the center. They are excited and willing to help out with everything from resume preparation to pulling together that all-important professional look that may help to land a job. The center maintains a nurturing atmosphere where women are encouraged to realize their full potential. Each woman is provided the proper tools and guidance to ensure she looks and feels confident when meeting potential employers.

The staff, faculty, and students at Ross were excited to help out as that is something that Ross is also passionate about. That’s why their Career Services staff works throughout each of the programs modules to support students and work alongside them to develop the skills and professionalism necessary to be successful in the workplace.
