Ross Medical in Port Huron Joins Nearby Campuses & McLaren to Support Michigan Harvest Gathering

Ross Medical Education Center Taylor Campus Harvest Gathering McLarenThe Michigan Harvest Gathering is an annual campaign hosted by the Michigan Health & Hospital Association that raises food and funds for Michigan’s emergency food response. This is the 27th year that Michigan Harvest Gathering has been providing meals to help Michigan residents in need. This year the Port Huron, Michigan campus of Ross Medical Education Center partnered with local McLaren Hospital, in conjunction with Michigan Health and Hospital Association, to conduct a food drive to support this very important organization.

The Port Huron campus was thrilled to receive an outpouring of support from some of the nearby Ross campuses. The students, staff, and faculty from the New Baltimore campus, Madison Heights campus, Saginaw campus, and Taylor campus locations generously stepped up to join the cause. Between the campuses, they were able to contribute 817 pounds of food that was collected and donated by Ross Medical Education Centers working together. In total, McLaren Hospital reported collecting a total of 14,580 pounds of food during this year’s drive. The food and supplies were kept in the local area and donated to Blue Water Food Depot and Mid City Nutrition in Port Huron. These organizations work hard to provide resources to members of the community in need.

“It was such a pleasure to be able to collect much needed items for this special organization, knowing that we are giving back to residents in our local community,” shared Stacey Clark, Assistant Campus Director of Education. Expressing her support, Nicole Semrow, Financial Aid Student Support Representative, commented, “it is always nice to donate this time of year. With the holidays just around the corner, it is heartwarming to know that the donations are going to make someone’s family gathering just a little bit better.”
