Medical Assistant training is fast but thorough.
Because they are such an important of the healthcare team, Medical Assistants receive training on a specific set of skills and don’t have to waste time with all of the classes that have nothing to do with their training. Starting on day one, you will find yourself receiving instruction on the actual information and tasks that you will need as a Medical Assistant in the field. After your classroom experience, you will be assigned an externship site and will receive more opportunities for training and hands-on practice in a real medical facility!
At Ross, the Medical Assistant program can be completed in as little as 30 weeks for morning students and 36 weeks for afternoon and evening students! That means that in under nine months, you could be done with your training and out in the field. At the end of your training, you will have the chance to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant exam and become certified in your field!

As a Medical Assistant, you will have many different options as far as the type of healthcare setting you work in. Many Medical Assistants work in doctor’s offices or medical clinics, but there are also other types of facilities that need Medical Assistants. They are also employed in hospitals, oftentimes carrying out administrative tasks.
Some Medical Assistants are interested in working in a specialized medical office. They may pursue opportunities to work in the fields of podiatry, geriatric care, ophthalmology, optometry, chiropractic, and more. As a healthcare professional providing specialized medical assisting, you may get the opportunity to your training in an area that you are passionate about and maybe even take part in special procedures.

One of the things that makes a Medical Assistant so marketable is that they are trained to complete tasks on both the clinical and administrative sides of a facility. That means that two days of medical assisting may look entirely different. Your opportunities may also look completely different.
